  | Actually, it wasn't the camera - we were kind of fuzzy - all that 3.2 Utah beer, ya see! | | | That night Ed Gergard gave an incredible concert, during which I became an instant fan. The following day I took a Master Class (private lesson) from him and many evenings he joined us for nightly jam sessions around the pool. Ed has an amazing touch and connection with the music he plays, as well as with the instrument. It was an honor to take a class from him. No kidding! Here are some mp3 versions of his songs. If you like what you hear, please buy the CD. | | | Friday night I joined several other students in "Student Showcase" performances. We were each limited to one song, and I chose to play and sing "Under Sedona Skies," which I had modified during my session with Ed Gerhard. The song uses DADGAD tuning and was extremely well received. | | | | | | Saturday night about 10 of us performed four songs as part of a "Guitar Ensemble" conducted by Mike Christiansen, an amazing guitarist in his own right. He and his son Corey - incidentally, the guitar editor at Mel Bay! - had given a joint (Not that kind of joint, Muffy - This was Utah, remember?) concert the previous evening. | |
